The olive tree is deemed as an extremely sacred tree in ancient Greek tradition. It has been a symbol of both power and peace as it was the sacred tree of goddess Athena. In addition to its value in Greek tradition and mythology, you will find Ancient Hebrew Scripture referring to olive branches at Noah’s ark.
how to care for an olive tree
Temperature wise outdoors, an olive tree needs a consistent period of heat, followed by a tolerable winter. They are native to the Mediterranean, so this is why they enjoy more of a dry climate.
It can survive indoors however, it does get a bit more tricky; you will need at least 5 hours of direct sunlight for these babies.
They enjoy soil that drains easily such as a cactus mix, along with a pot with multiple drainage holes.
Allow the top layer of soil to dry out before watering again.
They grow slowly, so don’t worry if you aren’t seeing tons of growth! They are still healthy and happy.
